-Recently, enemies of KSA as well as victims of biased fake news blame terrorism on what they call “The Wahhabis”. So what is this all about?
-The term “#Wahhabi” does not exist. It is called upon the #Salafi movement’s enemies to “scare off” Muslims. What most people call “Wahhabism” is simply a return of basic pure Islam to the Muslim world stage. ht
-The term Salafi derived from the Arabic word “Salaf”, or predecessors. The Salaf are simply the Early Muslim generation, which begins with the students of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH & their respective students.
-Our teachings simply come from the Qur’an (The Holy Book Of Islam) & the Sunnah (The teachings given to the Salaf by the Prophet Muhammad PBUH). We don’t take our teachings from anywhere else except from the above mentioned, this is what makes us the closest to pure Islam.
-It’s very natural for any religion to be misinterpreted. Almost all religions have branched into different sects, and the same has occurred with Islam. As time passed, new innovations came with the different people who misinterpreted Islam, this caused us the rise of new sects.
-Throughout Islamic history, many attempts have been made to start an Islamic “refresh” in hopes to combat innovations. Attempts were done by Imams such as Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, Ibn Tayymiyah, Ibn al Qayyim, & so on. Imam Muhammad Ibn Abdelwahhab’s attempt is simply one of them.
-In comparison to the other attempts, Imam Muhammad Ibn Abdelwahhab’s was largely the most successful of them all. It had brought back the Arabian peninsula to the pure study of Islam. by time, the refresh has spread to several neighboring regions as well.
-So where did the term “Wahhabism” come from? The term has been given to the supporters of the Saudi state by the British colonials because the “Wahhabis” called for a united Arabian state with a strong anti-colonial stance, which was against British/Turkish interests.
-The Turks meanwhile used this term to blind away Muslims from this movement, especially since their Sultanate endorsed a highly innovative version of Islam. Seeing Muslims sway away from their innovation was counterproductive to the Sultanate & its leadership
-This term died down for a while during the 20th century, it only came back to effect during the 9/11 attacks. Sadly, many have believed the lie that terrorist movements like MB,AQ,IS,Boko Haram, & many others have endorsed what they call “Wahhabism”.
-Meanwhile in reality, they decided to use Salafism as a cover to justify their bloody actions against innocent people, in which the Salaf (Early Muslims) completely forbade & condemned. Today, awareness has increased that these terrorists don’t represent Islam in any way.
-However, awareness also needs to rise that Salafism has no relation to these groups whatsoever, these groups have caused destruction in Islamic nations more than they did elsewhere while “Salafism” emphasizes & values the complete opposite of these groups’ doings.
-A quick example is how Saudi Arabia & other gulf states spent billions in building, repairing, & maintaining mosques around the world while these terrorist groups destroy them & kill whoever is inside them in the name of Islam.
