Can you imagine being this hateful?
"@ewarren, NIH funded research has discovered life-saving treatments for several kinds of cancer. This is unfair to people who were killed by cancer before these discoveries. Can we do the right thing and murder cancer survivors?"
@ewarren How broken must he be to have concluded after enduring hardship & suffering "I must ensure others suffer as much as I did, if not more" instead of resolving "I must do what I can to fix these oppressive systems to ease the suffering of others who come after me"
@ewarren I'm increasingly convinced that there are 2 kinds of people:
The first? Those who, having been made to suffer, take joy in inflicting suffering on others
They're responsible for so much toxicity – in medicine they bully trainees because they were bullied as students
@ewarren And as a result, trainees and patients and nurses and physician assistants and nurse practitioners, we all suffer because their response to having survived that hardship is to lash out – to take satisfaction from making others suffer.
@ewarren These people support and devise public policies that aren't just casually cruel – no, for them, the cruelty is the point.
The second? Those who endured suffering, know intimately the bitter taste of it, and do what they can to spare others that poison.
@ewarren There have been times when I didn't have enough money to pay the rent, to buy food, to get :any: of my medications.
And so I believe in a framework of positive human rights that puts people first:
